Quartz and glass cuvettes

When scientists have something they want to study or examine closely, they often use a special device called a spectrometer. One problem is that quartz is clearer than glass. This ambiguity can restrict its application in spectroscopy, as spectroscopic measurements necessitate very distinct substances to produce precise outcomes. It is also more susceptible to chemical attack than quartz. In other words, glass cuvettes may not be ideal for experiments with strong or reactive chemicals. In addition, glass can generate background fluorescence, or extra light that muddles the readings.
